1.6. Catalyst
The catalyst is the device for purification of the fulfilled gases placed in system of release.
Externally the catalyst will iron as the muffler, but performs function of reduction of emission of harmful substances.
Prevention
Not to go with extremely small reserve of fuel. If the fuel tank is empty, there can be interruptions in ignition and the catalyst will be subject to strong loading.
Do not allow the engine to idle more than 10 min. with the speed of the accelerated idling, and at the usual speed of idling – no more than 20 min.
Performance data of your engine have to be as it should be. Functional violations in system of ignition or in fuel installation can lead to very big heating of the catalyst.
Do not start the engine by towage of your car.
During this period, when the car is in the movement, do not switch off ignition at all.
On that place where there is something flammable, for example a grass, leaves, paper and rags, it is impossible to start empty the engine.
When the engine works, people cannot be near an exhaust pipe; the same concerns flammable objects. The fulfilled gas has very high temperature.
It is not recommended "to drive" the engine at full capacity.
Apply only unleaded gasoline.
If the engine is started hardly or often becomes deaf, it is necessary to check the car as soon as possible. For ensuring faultless functioning of the catalyst and all system of purification of the fulfilled gases it is necessary to check periodically the car according to the plan of maintenance of Nissan and to carry out technical leaving
Diesel engine
It is necessary to apply diesel fuel with octane number from 50 (an octanew index 45) or above.
