14.3. Safety locks and relay

SAFETY LOCKS

Safety locks break off a chain at casual short circuits.

 The main safety locks are located in a block from the driver. For access to a safety lock open a block cover.

Additional fuses and breakers are mounted in the assembly block which is located in a motor compartment.

The fused safety lock (2) can be identified on the melted current thread (1 – a serviceable safety lock).

Replacement

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Before replacement of a safety lock be convinced that this chain is disconnected.
2. Get a safety lock tweezers.
3. In the block there is a spare safety lock.
4. Before replacement establish the reason of burn-out and eliminate. The new safety lock has to correspond to replaced completely.
5. The rated current of a safety lock is designated by color marking (see the tab. Color marking).
6. The safety lock of the radio tape recorder is behind the radio tape recorder and is replaced after its removal.

RELAY

In system of electric equipment of cars relays which are used as for short circuit and disconnection of chains with big current, and for work in the timer mode are used.

Relays are mounted near a block of safety locks in salon and in the separate block located in a motor compartment. The arrangement of other relays depends on car model.

The relay of indexes of turn and the alarm system on the majority of cars it is mounted on an arm under the lower panel from the driver.

Over the block of indexes of turn the relay of the sound alarm system, reminding of the included headlights is mounted.

The relay of ABS system is on a relay rack in a motor compartment.

If at refusal of a chain which is operated by the relay characteristic clicks are not listened, then the relay is faulty. Otherwise it is necessary to look for malfunction in the chain, or a chain of management of the relay. In this case it is recommended to replace the relay on obviously serviceable, in accuracy corresponding to replaced.

The relay gets from the socket, previously disconnect the corresponding chain.
