13.3.5. Plastic elements

At more and more increasing use of plastic details in automotive industry (for example, bumpers, mudguards and in certain cases basic elements of a body) repair of more serious damages of such elements becomes a question of an assignment of such work to experts in this area or replacements of all element entirely.

Repair of such element of a body in repair shop is represented not really favorable because of the high cost of the equipment and materials necessary for such repair.

The basis of technology is made by creation of a flute in the area of a crack in plasticity by means of the rotational file inserted into the electric drill. The damaged parts then cook together by means of the thermal gun used for heating and a vplavleniye of the plastic filling core in a flute. Excessive plastic is removed after that, and all area is processed for receiving a plain and smooth surface.

It is very important that the filling core of a right grade of plastic as elements of a body can be made of plastic of various types was used (such as polycarbonate, ABS, polypropylene).

Damages of the smaller importance (attrition, small cracks, etc.) can be eliminated in repair shop by means of the epoxy repair solution consisting of two components. If the motorist independently makes replacement of all element of a body or repairs it by means of epoxy solution, then it will have a problem of search of paint which would be compatible to type of the used plastic.

Use of universal paints is impossible because of a large number of various types of plastic of which body elements are made. Usual types of paints, generally speaking, will not keep on plastic or rubber rather well.

However now there was an opportunity to acquire set for a closing stage of processing of plastic which includes structure for preliminary processing of a surface of plastic, structure for preprocessing and multi-colored structures for drawing the last layer.

The complete list of instructions for application is usually attached to set, but generally the method of its use consists in drawing preliminary structure on the processed surface and then expectations within 30 minutes of its drying.

Then primary structure is put, and it is given time to dry within about one hour before the color layer of the finishing structure is put.
